About this project

We're upgrading the cricket practice lanes at Beechworth's Baarmutha Park to an all-purpose sporting facility.

Why is this project being undertaken?

This project will see us replace the ageing and non-compliant three lane practice nets with a four lane fully enclosed facility that has been designed to Cricket Australia Community Cricket Facility Guidelines.

The upgrade will enable greater participation for all members of the community in a safer and more enjoyable environment.

What is happening and when?

This project is nearing completion with the cricket facility fully constructed. Remaining works includes installation of new fire hydrant.

How is it being funded?

This project is being funded through Sport and Recreation Victoria’s 2022 Community Cricket Program.

    The installation of the soft netting has been completed, marking a major milestone in the project. A few minor finishing touches are scheduled for later this week, after which a compliance walk through with the contractor will take place.

    With these final steps underway, the facility is on track to open shortly, ready to welcome the Wanderers and the community to enjoy cricket in a modern, purpose built space.

    Construction is progressing swiftly, with the concrete floor slab and footpath now complete and roof installation finished. Indoor lighting and electrical works are scheduled to commence in the coming weeks.
