We’re planning for the long-term redevelopment of Tangambalanga’s town centre and are now inviting the community to share its feedback on draft design concepts.
Why is this project being undertaken?
Opportunities to enhance the Tangambalanga streetscape were identified through the development of the Kiewa-Tangambalanga Placemaking Strategy and Township Structure Plan. Both outlined a need for a more distinctive town centre and identity, achieved through additional tree planting, wayfinding and township signage, better vehicle parking and improved pedestrian access and safety including crossings and lighting upgrades. Such improvements would improve both local and tourist experiences when visiting.
Have your say on the draft concept designs
To further develop the opportunities previously identified, we've drafted concept designs that we're now keen to hear your feedback on.
We want to make sure that the proposed designs accurately reflect the community feedback and priorities previously shared, and that community members whose properties are directly impacted by the proposed changes have an opportunity for further input.
You can share your thoughts by completing our short survey below.
What can and can't be influenced?
Several elements of the draft concepts are fixed. These include the pedestrian crossings, parking locations and layout of the road. These elements have been strategically positioned to provide access to businesses while minimising impact to property owners. They have also been determined based on traffic management, safety and current engineering standards.
What happens next?
Once the concept designs are finalised based on any community feedback, they will be presented to Council.
The enhancement works will then be strategically phased based on available funding, and the endorsed concepts will support Council in the pursuit of additional funding opportunities.
How is this stage of the project being funded?
Funding contributor
Amount
Council contribution to fund concept designs
$80,000
Future funding
A high level estimate of the cost to undertake the streetscape works is approximately $3.2M. This is not currently funded and will be subject to refinement with further design and successful grant applications and future budgets.
