The Community Grants program for 2026/27 has now closed. This page will be updated when the next round opens.

As part of Council’s commitment to strengthening community life across Indigo Shire, the Community Grants Program provides practical support to the local groups, clubs and volunteer‑run organisations that make our towns vibrant, connected and resilient.

Each year, Council allocates funding to help deliver projects that improve community facilities, enhance participation, support local programs and create welcoming spaces for people of all ages.

What the program supports

The program funds a wide range of community‑led initiatives, including (but not limited to):

  • Facility maintenance and upgrades at community and sporting venues
  • Purchase of essential equipment
  • Landscaping, paving and small‑scale infrastructure improvements
  • Community programs, coaching and skill‑building activities
  • Projects that strengthen local services, clubs and volunteer groups

Past funded projects have included toy library expansions, shade structures, clubroom improvements, equipment upgrades and landscaping works that enhance community spaces.

Funding available

A total pool of $50,000 is available each year, with grants typically ranging from $200 to $4,000.

Who can apply

The program is open to:

  • Community groups
  • Sporting clubs
  • Not‑for‑profit organisations
  • Volunteer committees and local associations

Applicants must be based in, or delivering their project within, Indigo Shire.

Why this program matters

The Community Grants Program helps bring local ideas to life. As Mayor Sophie Price has noted, the diversity of applicants each year reflects a community that is evolving, growing and powered by dedicated volunteers. These grants often make the difference between a project happening - or not.

How to apply

Details will be shared when the grants program opens for this year.

  • Share Three Flats Landcare group has identified that woody weeds (in particular blackberry) are a common problem on waterways in our area. We would like to run an education session for local landowners on the use of goats to control these weeds. The main cost is for this event is the speaker (approx. $3000). Do you think this would be a appropriate event to apply for the community events grant. We know itis a significant concern for local landowners. Based on similar events that the Group has held recently we would expect to attract approx. 30 local landowners. Thank you in advance. on Facebook Share Three Flats Landcare group has identified that woody weeds (in particular blackberry) are a common problem on waterways in our area. Hi Katie,

That is correct. School activities and programs are deemed the responsibility of the State Government and Education Department and are therefore unsuitable for Council grants.

If you would like to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to contact me at penelope.mcgufficke@indigoshire.vic.gov.au
