About this project

We're constructing a new playground at the Chiltern Community Hub Kindergarten and Long Day Care centre.

Why is this project being undertaken?

This project responds to the increased need for a playground that provides a range of integrated and innovative early childhood learning environments following an increase in enrolments at this centre.

How is this project being funded?

The project is funded by the Victorian Department of Education and a Council contribution.

What is happening and when?

Site works commenced mid-January 2025, with construction scheduled to be completed in February 2025.

What will be the impact of these works?

Throughout the construction period, access to the outdoor area at the Chiltern Community Hub will be restricted. Upon completion, the kindergarten and long day care service will have access to a playground that includes a variety of integrated elements such as a large sand pit, bike track, a mud kitchen, raised vegetable garden beds, and moveable items for creative play, which will support a number of learning opportunities, inclusion and tailored teaching approaches.

    Works are now nearing completion.

    The new fence is finished, and the new tiered sand pit, bike track and raised vegetable garden beds have also been installed.

    Shade sails and further play elements are still to come.

    Site works have commenced with demolition, earthworks and drainage now complete. Installation of the new fencing is also underway.

    Works are expected to be completed within the next few weeks.
