Chiltern Community Emergency Management Planning
Thanks to Emergency Recovery Victoria funding, we're developing new emergency planning tools specifically for Chiltern - an Emergency Reference Map and Community Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) to help our community prepare for and respond to future emergencies.
An Emergency Reference Map is a quick reference to key locations relevant to an emergency. It depicts a simplified map of Chiltern, and key services available that relate to emergency planning. The back page contains information on keeping up to date and informed, and emergency contact numbers.
A Community Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) is a guide to help newcomers, visitors and locals to make the right decisions for them when planning for an emergency, responding to a hazard, and in recovery.
Community Consultation Session
The groundwork for the map and CEMP was created with emergency management knowledge. We are now seeking further local expertise on the drafts from you.
WHEN: Thursday 4 September
WHERE: Chiltern Library
TIME: 6pm - 8pm
Can't make the session in person? Once the draft documents are ready they will also be available for comment here, or by getting in touch with the Emergency Management Coordinator.
What Next?
The CEMP is a community owned resource that should serve as a dynamic document, updated based on community need in response to evolving climate conditions and the increasing severity of emergencies.
Importantly, this plan is not a guide to tell you where to go or what to do in an emergency. Your survival relies on good planning by you. The plan provides links to emergency planning, which must be done prior to an event. You can also access this information here.
The plan highlights the key unique characteristics of Chiltern in an emergency, provides planning pointers, identifies sources of information and support, and is a quick-reference guide for local key contacts, particularly for recovery.
The final documents will be made available at:
- The Visitor Information Centre
- Chiltern Customer Service Centre and Library
- Council website
With a combination of local knowledge and official information, our community is better prepared to stay safe and keep connected in an emergency.
