About this project

We've finalised the construction of a Changing Places facility at Chiltern's Martin/Tourist Park.

Why was this project undertaken?

We're committed to creating more inclusive communities and through the Victorian Government’s Changing Places program, which provides suitable facilities for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets, we're able to support people with disability, their families and carers to actively participate in all aspects of everyday life.

Indigo Shire's first Changing Places facility was completed in 2023 in Yackandandah. During community consultation for that project, Chiltern was identified as another priority location, and in 2022, we secured funding to construct the town's first fully accessible restrooms.

How is this project being funded?

The project is funded by the Victorian Government’s Changing Places Program through the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

Funding contributorAmount
Department of Families, Fairness and Housing$242,581

What have we delivered?

The new facility features all the essential amenities required for a fully accessible restroom experience, including a toilet and basin, an adult-sized changing table, and a ceiling hoist. These specialised features ensure that people who cannot use standard accessible toilets now have a safe, dignified space to meet their personal care needs while visiting Chiltern.

The facility has been registered with the official "Find a Changing Places" website, making it easy for visitors to locate when planning their trips to our town.
