About this project
We're constructing a Changing Places facility to adjoin the existing toilet block at Chiltern's Martin/Tourist Park.
Why is this project being undertaken?
We're committed to creating more inclusive communities and through the Victorian Government’s Changing Places program, which provides suitable facilities for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets, we're able to support people with disability, their families and carers to actively participate in all aspects of everyday life.
Indigo Shire's first Changing Places facility was completed in 2023 in Yackandandah. During community consultation for that project, Chiltern was identified as another priority location, and in 2022, we secured funding to construct the town's first fully accessible restrooms.
How is this project being funded?
The project is funded by the Victorian Government’s Changing Places Program through the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
Funding contributor
Amount
Department of Families, Fairness and Housing
$242,581
What is happening and when?
Site works are commencing on Tuesday 26 November 2024.
What will be the impact of these works?
Throughout the construction period, the current toilet facilities will remain largely accessible. Upon completion, Chiltern will boast its first fully accessible restrooms, providing individuals with disabilities, along with their families and caregivers, enhanced access to social and tourism activities.
