About this project

We carried out road sealing works on Moffat Road, Chiltern and Polmear Lane, Beechworth as part of the Urban Road Sealing Program.

On Moffat Road, around 200 metres will be upgraded, starting from the Skerry Street end and extending just past the Soule Street intersection. This represents the first stage of a broader plan to progressively seal the full 550-metre section of road in future. This project is supported by a Council allocation of $40,500 under the Capital Works Program.

On Polmear Lane, approximately 200 metres will be upgraded, from the Buckland Gap Road intersection to the Fletcher Road intersection. This project is supported by a Council allocation of $50,000 under the Capital Works Program.

What works were completed

Across both sites, works include improving drainage to reduce water-related damage during heavy rain, minor reshaping of the road and shoulders, and installation of new drainage or culvert infrastructure where required. At Moffat Road, new drainage pits and pipes will also be installed at the Soule Street intersection.

New road base material will be laid before both roads are sealed with a bitumen surface. The overall road shape will remain largely unchanged, and finished levels will be smoothly matched to existing driveways where required. Please note that upgrades to private driveways are not included as part of these works.

Future works (Moffat Road)

Council intends to continue sealing Moffat Road towards Barkly Street in future stages. These works will depend on funding approvals through future capital works programs, and timelines cannot be confirmed at this stage.
