Consultation has concluded
Consultation process
We invited community members to review and make submissions on our draft Protected Interest Policy for 28 following the August 2023 Council meeting.
Why did we consult?
We’re required by under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012 (PID Act) and the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2011 (IBAC Act) to establish a system for reporting disclosures of improper conduct or detrimental action by public officers and public bodies.
In December 2019, Council adopted the Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower) Policy and this draft updated policy is intended to replace it.
The updated version includes more procedural information for the purpose of transparency and compliance.
The updated policy is one demonstration of Council’s commitment to transparency, good governance and accountability in its administrative and management practices and supports the process for disclosure that may reveal improper conduct.
What did we find out?
No feedback was received by the community during the 30 day exhibition period.
What happens next?
The policy was adopted by Council at the October 2023 meeting.
