We're seeking expressions of interest from eligible community members to join our first ever Public Art Advisory Panel

Shape the future of Public Art in Indigo Shire

The panel will play a pivotal role in shaping the cultural landscape of our community through advising on the selection, acquisition, and management of public artworks.The panel will represent the aspirations and needs of the community, and support Council in meeting the objectives of our Public Art Policy.

The objectives and functions of the panel

  • Expert Advice: Bring professional skills and knowledge to the process of public art acquisition, management de-acquisition and disposal. Bring local perspectives and unbiased advice.
  • Selection: Advise Council on the selection of artists and related contractors for significant public art projects.
  • Recommendations: Make informed recommendations to council and staff regarding public art acquisitions, commissions and gifts; siting and; decommissioning.
  • Provide Representation: Involve local, esteemed arts professionals and be entrusted to represent our diverse community.

Selection Criteria
This voluntary role is perfect for passionate creative professionals, leaders and community members. Panel members will possess a deep connection to the creative identity of Indigo Shire Council and an understanding of public art in regional communities. They bring a range of artistic skills, reflect the diversity of our community, and contribute to the panel in a fair and impartial way, prioritising the community's benefit over personal interests.


We are committed to ensuring diverse representation on the panel. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, individuals with expertise in inclusion practices, and those with experience in the education sector.
