Consultation process

We invited community members to review and make submissions on our draft Council Expense and Resource Policy for 28 days following the June 2023 Council meeting.

Why did we consult?

We’re required by section 41 of the Local Government Act 2020 (‘the Act’) to adopt and maintain an expenses policy in relation to the reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses for Councillors and members of delegated committees.

The policy supports councillors and members of delegated committees to perform their role, as defined under the Act, by ensuring that expenses reasonably incurred in the performance of their role are reimbursed. The policy is intended to ensure that councillors and members of delegated committees are supported to perform their duties without disadvantage.

Council adopted a policy in August 2020 and upon updating it with proposed changes, we sought community feedback.

What did we hear?

No submissions were received during the 30-day public exhibition period.

What happens next?

The updated policy was adopted by Council at the August 2023 meeting.
