The Indigo Shire Council Public Art Policy provides comprehensive guidance for planning, creating, commissioning, and maintaining public art in Indigo Shire and involves input from various levels of government, community engagement, and stakeholder analysis.

It aligns with the Creative Indigo Strategy, focusing on inclusivity, sustainability, and community engagement.

The policy outlines clear guidelines for artist involvement, commissioning processes, governance, funding, and maintenance, positioning Indigo Shire as a vibrant creative hub with diverse high-quality public artworks that celebrate our unique identity.

The Policy Statement

Indigo Shire Council is dedicated to nurturing a culturally vibrant community that values and celebrates diversity through the thoughtful integration of public art. We aspire to create lasting, meaningful, and inspiring contributions to our shared public spaces, reflecting the spirit and character of Indigo Shire. Council is committed to a transparent process for the acquisition of public art and will seek funding for high quality artwork through diverse channels. Public art projects will adhere to the guiding principles set out in the Creative Indigo Strategy.
