In September 2026, we sought community feedback on our Draft Disability Action Bridging Plan 2026-2027. The 12-month plan continues our commitment to disability inclusion by building on the current Disability Action Plan 2021-2025 and preparing for the development of the next four-year plan. It focuses on improving accessibility, strengthening inclusion and ensuring people with disability can participate fully in community life.
Background
The Draft Disability Action Bridging Plan has been developed under the Disability Act 2006, which requires public authorities to take proactive steps to remove barriers and promote inclusion for people with disability.
With the Victorian Government's next State Disability Action Plan covering the period 2027-2031, Council has prepared a 12-month Bridging Plan to maintain momentum and ensure alignment with future State priorities. The plan builds on the achievements of the current Disability Action Plan while strengthening Council systems, workforce capability, governance and evidence gathering to support the development of the next four-year Disability Action Plan.

Strengthening engagement with people with lived experience of disability and supporting leadership opportunities.
Building staff capability and promoting inclusive practices across Council.
Improving the accessibility of Council infrastructure, services and information.
