Our draft Community Engagement Strategy 2025-2029 is now available for community review and feedback.
What is the strategy?
This strategy sets out how Indigo Shire Council will engage with you over the next four years. It's our roadmap for creating genuine opportunities for you to influence Council decisions, policies, and plans that affect your life.
The strategy describes the principles we'll follow, the methods we'll use, and our commitment to transparent, accessible engagement that values your experience and local knowledge.
Why does it matter?
Good engagement leads to better decisions. When we combine your lived experience and local knowledge with Council's technical expertise, we get outcomes that actually work for our community.
This strategy ensures:
You know when and how you can have your say
You understand how much influence you'll have on different decisions
We're clear about what we can and can't change
You hear back about how your input was used
We're consistent and transparent in how we engage across all projects
What are some of the key features?
Different levels of engagement for different decisions
Not every decision needs the same level of community input. We use the IAP2 framework to match engagement to impact, from simply keeping you informed about operational matters, through to collaboration on major strategic decisions.
Four key objectives
Building an organisational culture of genuine engagement
Creating accessible participation opportunities for everyone
Clearly showing how your input influences decisions
Continuously improving based on feedback and best practice
Provide Your Feedback
A copy of the Draft Community Engagement Strategy is available in the Documents section of this page.
Feedback closes at 5pm on Friday, 30 January 2026.
All submissions will be considered before the Strategy is finalised.
