About this project
Council has over 469 kilometres of sealed roads to maintain and funds an annual renewal program to resurface a small proportion of this urban and rural network.
This program is predominately developed by reviewing the condition and age of sections of road, but also for improved amenity within the streetscape.
Why is this project being undertaken?
As a road surface ages, the bitumen within it becomes brittle and can crack or lose its ability to hold onto the stone aggregate surface. This leads to water penetrating the underlying structure of the road which can cause more major failures like potholes.
So while your road or street might look to be in serviceable condition, by the time of resurfacing it is likely reaching this point of brittleness and may soon begin to fail. Most sealed roads are resurfaced once every 15-25 years, varying according to a wide variety of factors.
What is happening and when?
Council has approved the award of the contract for its 2026/27 Annual Resealing program to LFT Bitumen Pty Ltd based in Albury/Wodonga. The $696,184 contract will see sections of the following roads resurfaced.
Works are proposed to be completed, weather permitting, over a two-week period in early November. You may notice minor works on these roads, by our Road Maintenance staff, in the lead up to help prepare the road. Please feel free to review our FAQ’s on this page for more information around what to expect, before, during and after.
